August 2008

Heavy rain restricted the fishing effort in August to around ten days. However, these windows of opportunity saw some notable salmon fishing. The Half Moon saw some excellent fishing on the middle and upper river with nine salmon for the period including one of 15lbs to Peter Stemp at Madeira. The Middlemiss party fishing The Norton-Smiths water at Little Warham accounted for eight of the nine fish caught in the space of little over a week. The fish were mainly grilse in the 5 to 8lb range. Sea trout fishing was also good with a number of fish up to 4lb taken during daylight hours.

Season Extension

Once again an extension to the season has been secured. Fishing will now continue until 14th October 2008. The conditions attached to the extension are that all fish caught are released, barbed hooks are used at all times and every angler must be in possession of a special permit. Permits are available from Charles Inniss who can be contacted on 01409 231 237 (best time 8a.m. to 9a.m.) or at The Beeches, Sheepwash, EX21 5NW.
